The year 2002 is the tenth anniversary of "The Rio Conference" which took place in Rio, Brazil. The significance of the conference is to discuss the future environmental matters between world leaders. The Rio Declaration were announced along with the "Agenda 21" which provided the basement of how each nation must see the limited natural resources. After ten years from "The Rio Conference", the world leader will meet again in Johannesberg, Republic of South Africa starting from 26th of August to 4th of September. Each nation and a number of NGOs are preparing for the next conference in Johannesberg and Korea is not exceptional.
Researchers of "The Worldwatch Institute" of America publishes these reports annually and they carefully carry out a field study with a wide range of materials before the publication. The translation of the "Earth Environmental Report 2002" were issued by Doyosae Ltd. in February of year 2002. This book contains even the smallest change in the environment which is very difficult to notice for ordinary people. In addition, the book shows all the essential information about the nature, its changes and the seriousness of the pollution on it. Especially, this year's report is a special edition due to the Johannesberg conference and this is why it was read out at the conference.
The book views how our environment has changed drastically during the last 10 years along with the damages of nature from WTO and it also provides a fair standpoint on the environment, the society and the economy. Therefore, this is a "must book" for those people who would like to maintain healthy environment.
Especially, on the chapter 7, "For end of war on natural resources" tells us some information which we do not know; explains the relation between the huge shopping malls of the Western area and conflict of Asia, South America and Africa, noting that "It does not matter how complicated the line is, the natural resources which are responsible for all the blood and dirty hands go to the consumers of developed countries. The report gives a valuable message to us that looking for the another people and nature is very important.
"Earth Environmental Report 2002" is certainly a "must book" for college students. It points out that the future is up to us, the ordinary people. Also, it lets them to think about the "Sustainability" on the earth.
Without any doubt, "Earth Environment Report 2002" is a vital book for everybody because it makes us to reflect ourselves. On top of that, it shows how we can protect the nature and lights up the path of the positive future for all of us.
