Civil servants launch union
A group of public employees launched a labor union on March 23 rd, in defiance of the law that bans them from doing so. Over 250 civil servants and representatives joined the rally at 4.19 memorial room in Korea University, to celebrate the inception of the Korean Association of Government Employees Work Councils Union (KAGEWC), the second kind in the nation.
During the rally, the preparatory Committee for the Korean Association Government Employees Work Council (PKAGEWC) builds general principals and declaims a resolution.
We will focus on fighting corruption and administration, said Jeon, chairman of KAGEWC.
But, some 2500 riot police entered a room to block the rally during a rally. They took 181 delegates. The government announced that we would discipline, so the move is expected to intensify conflicts with government.
